👋Drops Overview (Start Here)

Welcome to Truffle's Drop Overview! Whether you're a seasoned creator or new to the NFT space, we've made it simple for you to launch your next NFT drop. Below is an overview of the different drop types you can create on our platform:

Core Edition (Single Original NFT)

Description: Edition drops allow users to mint copies of a single NFT. In the Core Edition flow, you can choose exactly how many copies are available to mint from 1 to unlimited. Core Editions use Metaplex Core protocol for lower fees and more extensive features compared to Legacy Editions.

Use Cases: 1/1 or LE art prints, presale NFT placeholders, commemorative NFTs, utility / community pass NFTs, and more.

Random Mint (Multiple NFTs)

Description: Random Mint drops allow users to mint a random NFT from a collection of NFTs. This is the most common type of drop for most users on Truffle.

Use Cases: PFP collections, generative art collections, curated selection of artworks, collectibles, and more

Airdrops (Create and Distribute New NFTs)

Description: Airdrops allow creators to mint and distribute one or more NFTs to a list of wallets without a public mint. Airdrops can only be used for newly created NFTs and do not work for NFTs that have already been minted.

Use Cases: Exclusive drops to loyal followers, distributing NFTs of a presale only collection, minting an expansion of an existing collection to your treasury, and more.

🪂Creating an Airdrop

Description: Similar to Core Edition drops, Legacy Edition drops allow creators to mint copies of a single NFT. This flow is no longer being developed as Core Editions leverage a newer Metaplex protocol with lower fees and more features.

Use Cases: Mint Editions to existing Legacy collections.
